giving in the silence

est. 2019

onderbroeks silently gifts or donates a handful of robes annually. to us, giving in silence means showing generosity in a spontaneous way. sometimes that means gifting a robe to someone in need of prayer and support. sometimes it’s a donation to a cause we believe in. often, it’s simply treating a customer who has shown continuous support. our goal with these spontaneous acts of kindness is almost always to brighten someone’s day, even if just for a small moment.

cotton face masks in response to covid-19.

with the widespread shortage of personal protective equipment (ppe), including medical face masks, for healthcare workers fighting the spread of covid-19, we decided to pivot our day-to-day operations to include the production and sale of cloth face masks. we’re so thankful that our existing skills and equipment allowed us to make even the smallest difference in protecting our community, while keeping our team working and creating for as long as possible.

these masks are not intended to replace medical masks, when available, but our hope is that they will help protect healthcare workers who are lacking ppe, as well as provide an option for non-healthcare workers that won’t reduce the availability or medical masks for those who need them most.

the first 100 face masks produced were donated to hardworking and deserving healthcare workers thanks to a generous donation from monument geomatics that covered material costs, and to the onderbroeks team who volunteered their time and skills. we also included a donate a mask option at checkout which was a great success! thank you to our community.

this organization is made up of incredible volunteers, working hours & hours outside of their full time jobs to bring hurting dogs into safe & loving homes - just extraordinary. i rescued rayon through ndr nearly two years ago & my life was instantly changed for the better. i could go on with some ray stories (which you’ll find in our newsletters), but i’ll just say i am forever grateful for ndr and am so thrilled that i can support them in some way through this business of mine!

now some thank you’s are definitely necessary:

  • thank you to closet core patterns - this would not be possible without the free dog coat pattern their team launched in november 2020. (click the link if you want to sew your furry friend a trendy coat!)

  • thank you to ray’s bestie layla for doing try ons & posing for us. and to her mom jo for donating fleece!

  • and a big thank you to everyone that bought a mask in the past year, we were able to utilize our leftover cotton scraps for the coat hems!

we are excited to keep this gift ongoing for winters to come.
